Please Blue Heart: The Last Ballad of Lonnie Barron

The book is complete!

Two years ago as I was editing interviews together for the documentary, I was having a difficult time seeing the full story. Knowing that a documentary is still a movie, and needs to be told in a way that engages the viewer, I set the documentary aside to write the entire story out as a book first.

It sent me back into research because it forced me to ask important questions I might have not addressed with interview footage alone. Lonnie's story is now as complete as it can be, and I will start the process of condensing it into a blueprint for the documentary.

I do plan to make the book available as a companion piece to the documentary in the future, so stay tuned!

The Lonnie Barron Story: Can You Help?

Lonnie Barron's brief life was a story that had as much beauty and heartache as the best of country ballads. It is also very complex. I am working on a documentary to tell that story. Lonnie's untimely death affected many people, and I have a few goals with making this documentary:

  1. To remove all the sensationalism from the newspapers of the time, all the mischaracterizations perpetuated by the true detective magazines, and all the mistruths that have grown over the years.
  2. I believe this documentary can take the events that turned so many lives upside-down and show that it can still bring about something positive, many years later.
  3. That Lonnie's music still has an audience yet to discover it.

Please check out the Resources Needed page to see the list of pictures I am looking for. Forward this site to anybody who you believe may be able to assist with information or visual resources. You can use the contact page to get in touch with me about sending digital scans of photographs. If you live near the southeast Michigan area and need help getting images scanned, contact me and I will arrange a time to scan them. I will not need to take the originals. Thank you, I appreciate any assistance that can be provided!
